Laura Alpern, a senior at Northampton High School, has had a passion for cooking her whole life. She is extremely excited to be attending the Culinary Institute of America next fall. Growing up with severe food allergies inspired her to start cooking at a young age, and it soon became something she could not live without. In the past, Laura has worked at a catering company, and is currently working at Small Oven Bakery in Easthampton, MA. Laura has always loved helping out her community, and for her Bat Mitzvah project in 2009, cooked and delivered 90 meals for the community right out of her own kitchen. She raised $800 for Mazon, a Jewish organization that helps fight hunger. In between balancing school and work, Laura loves hanging out with her friends and family, especially when it involves cooking them a meal.
