Hey everybody, Bill Bradley Registered Dietitian here. This year U.S. News & World Report recently rated the Mediterranean diet as the healthiest diet in the world. It has been shown to benefit almost every part of your body from your head to your toes, from decreasing risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia to significantly cutting the risk of diabetes, heart disease, asthma, and obesity just to name a few.

I have worked with many people with diabetes and heart disease who have been able to drastically decrease or even completely get off of their medicines when they make the switch to the Mediterranean diet.  Personally, I have lost 45 pounds eating a Mediterranean diet as well as being able to heal my reflux.

Doctors and other health professionals around the world are telling their patients to eat the Mediterranean diet. Unfortunately, they do this without giving much, if any, guidance on how to actually eat the diet.

That is where the Mediterranean way program comes in. The Mediterranean Way is a 10-week online program that will lead you step by step to eating and living the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle.

For example, in week one, You will learn the spectacular health benefits of eating extra virgin olive oil as well as how to wade through the sea of fraudulent olive oils so you can choose the best anti-inflammatory oils on the market.  You will also learn that the Mediterranean diet is a high-fat diet and you will begin to try traditional recipes that will bring your definition of delicious to new heights.  Every week there are new lessons, cooking videos and recipes.  There are also optional weight loss and exercise components to the program as well.  As you progress throughout the program you can earn points for everything you do and redeem the points for mini cookbooks from different Mediterranean countries.

You will receive an in-depth Mediterranean meal plan each week with recipes and shopping lists.  You can choose to follow the meal plan exactly or pick and choose your favorites each week.  There is also a private Mediterranean Way Facebook community so that you can share your successes, recipes, and articles and get support when needed.  And, of course, you will have access to the Mediterranean Living team if you have any questions about the diet or the program itself.

We have put a lot into the Mediterranean Way program because we want you to have the best experience possible as you learn to eat the Mediterranean diet and live the Mediterranean lifestyle.  We are very excited about the program and hope you will join us.  Check out when the next Mediterranean Way program begins below.  As they say in Greece, Kali Orexi which means Bon appetit.

“This program is a way of life, one which I have adopted successfully, and more importantly one which I have sustained for over one year now. My weight remains steady at 160 pounds (down from 216). My energy levels rival that of someone 20 years younger than me (I’m now 57), enabling me to exercise in any way that I desire, from lifting weights to intense cardio sessions.”
— Michael Little

“After completing my 10-week program, I had a regularly-scheduled appointment with my doctor. Because my cholesterol has always been above the normal range (229 last year) I requested that she test it again this year. I’m happy to report that my total cholesterol dropped to 169, which is in the normal range, and all my other numbers improved as well.”

Foods of Crete Cookbook

"The scientifically acclaimed “Mediterranean Diet” is presented at its best here, with the liberal use of olive oil and plenty of vegetable and fish dishes in addition to mezedes (appetizers), meat dishes, desserts, and pretty much every Cretan dish you can think of." - Mary
